Kitchener council and senior staff tie on their tool belts to help end poverty
KITCHENER – Habitat for Humanity Build Day is Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 23 Howe Dr., Kitchener. With hammers in hand, Kitchener city councillors and senior staff will don hard hats to show their support for Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region’s efforts to break the cycle of poverty.
As the representing voices of this community, each dignitary will send a strong message about the impact individuals can have as volunteer builders in supporting Habitat for Humanity’s cause.
Founded in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region is a non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
With the help of numerous volunteers, the organization has built 89 homes and provided local families with safe, decent and affordable housing in Waterloo Region.
